Nevertheless education plays a pivotal role in the developmental process especially the tribal poor’s in Odisha. In this context Shanti Maitree efforts towards development in field of education as follows:
Child friendly infrastructure Development
- Strengthening sanitation facilities – Motivating / generating awareness among the authorities to construct need-based urinals, latrines, wash basins, separate toilets for boys & girls.
- Provision of safe drinking water – Ensure arrangement of water storage, pumping & purification facilities, provision of taps at an appropriate height in the school premises.
- Supplying shoes to poor students who cannot afford to purchase in few schools of its operational area.
Vocational training programme and life skills education
- Computer certificate and diploma programme for high school drop students.
- Skill development programme for on-going students/ dropouts on computer, home nursing, Fabric painting and Applique Work.
- Providing counseling session to students for better carrier in their life.
- Water Sanitation and Hygiene training for School going students.
Capacity Building of Teachers
- Pre-service teacher training imparted to primary school teachers.
- Training provided to primary schools teachers to make them understand child-centric Education.
- Imparting training for current teachers on life cycle approach of students
Awareness generation and community based advocacy for quality education
- Capacity building of Parent Teachers Association, school management committee, village management (education) committee on their roles and responsibility on educational development.
- Organized different Community based awareness generation programme.
- Promoting the concept of community based monitoring and auditing of education programme through MSG (Mother Support Group)
