Shanti Maitree is a non‑governmental, non‑profit social development organization established by a group of dedicated activists committed to bringing the fruits of development to marginalized tribal and rural communities in Odisha. Since 1989, we have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for vulnerable families, focusing on health, livelihood, women’s empowerment, and child care.

Registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, Shanti Maitree is non‑political in nature and guided by a well‑defined bye‑law and memorandum of association. Its governance structure includes both a General Body and a Governing Body, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective decision‑making.

Over the years, Shanti Maitree has successfully implemented diverse welfare and development programs with the active participation of local communities, particularly in tribal areas. This participatory approach has helped the organization build trust, strengthen resilience, and create sustainable pathways for change.

Mission

SHANTI-MAITREE is dedicated its commitment form grass-root level for empowerment and emancipation of dalits, Adivasi & other downtrodden people to bring them into the main stream of development through a process of its philosophy, ideology and appropriate methods of works.

Vision

SHANTI-MAITREE’s vision is to build a justice & civil society without discrimination of caste class creed, sex and religion where all the under privilege downtrodden communities will be socio-economically, educational, politically and culturally empowered with peace and harmony.

Goal

The Organization has been successfully implementing different activities with Goal “To improve the quality of life through intervention pertaining to health and livelihood specially emphasizing women empowerment and Child Care in the community for their sustainable development with new socio- economic order in which the poor as well as women live at par with others following values of sustainable development, global common hood and sympathy towards the weaker section of the society”.
